This weekend I saw an interesting interpretation of Macbeth . Err, set in the 'war torn middle east', complete with CNN news coverage and everything. It didn't really work that well - there was a sense of technical limitations in the prsuit of the media satuation attempts - but both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth gave absolutely stellar performances. Wonderful. Nice to prove how eerily relevant Macbeth is, though. Uncanny!

Also went to a pretty chilling psy-trance thing. I haven't been out to any events sine Goa Gil in September, so this was nice. (The temporary autonomous zone lived at 160 bpm was an intense experience, but I'm sure as hell not ready for that again any time soon.) Wonderful opening sermon and amazing visuals. There was this artist there 'mixing' his visuals like a dj, with various tracks that he would loop and run through with filters. Quite amazing. Stayed up until 7 a.m. and got up again at noon to go to the Michael Graves building downtown.

Regard:

It actually has a GIANT bronze statue of a woman holding a trident on it and giant stone ribbons on the sides. The windows are tinted gray and 1x1 and the building has a higher rate of depression in its employees than other buildings. This is a municipal building with government functions and was selected because it fit within the budget of the project. In short, it's a terribly hideous looking failure that accelerates the decline of those inside.

It's supposed to be a seminal moment in the rise of postermodern architecture. In addition, it's ugly as bill the cat.

Speaking of, I'm gonna go curl up in bed with my copy of Penguin Dreams pretty soon.

So, I'm still big pimping on the free things. And now there's a new proverbial wrench in the machine that is free stuff: If you complete the requirements on the offercentric sites, they'll offer you either:
$450 for the PVP player
or
$325 for the cameras4free site. All you need to do is complete one trial offer (of the New York Times, an ISP, etc) and get the needed number of friends to do the same, and you can actually get $450. So blinging.
So... yeah . The URLs for those two are:
Free pvps (portable video players)
Cameras4free

PvP is the one with all of the really rad portable media devices, and cameras4free has cameras for up to 5 gigs, with a fair amount of flexibility in options.

And the other ones I'm pimping are:
Free photo ipods
Free palms

So you know that these kinds of things can get addictive -- especially when there's the possibility of getting several hundred dollars instead of the device, if desired. Sooo pimping.

that pretty much sums up 99.98% of post modern architecture IMHO. I've never been a big fan of Graves.
