So I've finally gotten around to reading Understanding Comics and Reinventing Comics. Because, frankly, I'm a retard. (Let me soften the blow by instead using the phrase 're-re'.)

And I just have to say, Jesus! I feel like so many of my previous conceptions about what I have read in comics have been blown out of the water by these books. There are so many subtleties that I feel vaguely ashamed for not having realized... when I get my copy of Watchmen back from the boy I shall have to dissect it even more thoroughly. (Entertainingly enough [in my perception] I lent him Watchmen and it is the first comic he's ever read. It's very fitting within our relationship that the first comic book he ever encounters, especially by my hand, is the most brilliant SELF-REFLEXIVE DECONSTRUCTION of comicsever.)

I was a fat fat gluttonous consumer today. (Num! Gluttony!) Went to Amoeba on Haight today... picked up Suede's Coming Up (perfectly stupid trashy glam rock. Definitely not as good as their earlier stuff... Curve's Come Clean and Bauhaus' Crackle. We also stopped at the bookstore where I picked up Acid Dreams, which looks like an awesome read. Oh to prepare before the storm!

Stopped at the knitting store and I got some FUCKING TIGHT MOHAIR AND 15GA NEEDLES. Bow to me, fuckers!

I'm planning on getting a vertical labret soon (after New Years'... it's planned debauchery, I don't need a piercing impeding that!). My sister's planning on going on a juice diet after I get my piercing. So while she has an intensive detoxification/observing her own body session, I'll be bitching, drinking soup through a straw and doing sea salt soaks. Good times had by all!
