spent the last two days hanging out with my cousin and her husband in this weird pocket of gentrification in south Dorchester, near Neponset. Now I'm wandering the streets of boston, and going up to Newburyport for the night. now I have to figure out what I'm doing for monday night in boston, I'm most likely staying in back bay. Anyone have any Ideas?

also, the more time I spend in this town, the more resolved I am to move back here.

i usually don't do the back bay scene much, since i'm rarely over there (though that might change, since one of the two jobs is off newbury). most of my drinking in boston proper has been down in the fanueil hall area -- purple shamrock, etc, on the haymarket side, and black rose, kitty's, jose mcintyre's, etc on the aquarium side.

my ex played a show at copperfield's, near fenway, saturday night that apparently got quite rowdy, with a chick fight and all! that could be entertaining.

salem is a lot like providence, if you've been there, though even smaller. historic, pretty, kind of quiet, kind of weird, kind of artsy, kind of spooky. with lots and lots of great bars and restaurants. easily walkable and/or bikeable, and the commuter rail runs straight through town and into north station. it's also totally full of freaks and weirdos, for better or for worse (some of them run a little hard and fast for my taste, but everyone knows everyone and the community is pretty cool.)

if/when i move home, i'd do 'toga. yeah, it's yuppie. really yuppie. painfully yuppie. but salem has taught me how to live with tourists without killing them, and i would HAVE to be in a walking town. those half hour drives from clifton park to downtown saratoga just to get a decent cup of coffee were the pits.
