3 years of seeing her work the counter at the neighborhood coffee shop. her short hair, deep eyes, funky style and that cute eastern euro accent.
our eyes lock everytime, a brief smile, then we both look away as if we just busted each other.
the last time i saw her, 6 months ago - i was in for a late night coffee - reading the sunday paper. she comes in for a coffee to go. turns and we are face to face as i sit at the table - something tells me she got another job by the look on her face and our non communicative romance is over......she looks at me, opens her mouth, nothing comes out and leaves.
i go in yesterday - and there she is - as cute as ever - our eyes lock again with a hint of surprise, smiles again - she sits with a friend - and i leave..........or do i?
fuck this - im going back in for uh...uh... a glass of water - yeah thats it. i have to walk past her on the way out - she looks and the best i could come up with............."where have you been hiding?" - fucking idiot!!! - her reply - "oh i got another job" - i say "ahhh" and leave.........
i should have just proceeded to drive my car off a bridge.
