First... From what you describe, I think he's just an ageist jerk. I've dated several women significantly older than me (42 when I was 20, a 60-year old a couple of years ago, and some a bit less of a gap).
I also drove a couple of hours for a tryst with a 19-year old college student a couple of years ago...
