I'm waiting for that one story that I thnk is appropriatye to tell you about pops into my head.

You may know about the one that was in Benni's journal. She had put in her journal I think it was on a Sunday, that she would be in Duluth the next day and how she didn't want to go and all. She stated something like "revenge my duluth!" and talked about some other stuff.

After reading that, and knowing from another I had followed to Duluth one day a couple of months before, it gets kinda boring between sets. So the next day I went to work, asked for Tuesday morning off, and to get off from work early Monday, went home, changed and drove to Duluith to spend the evening with Benni. It took me almost 3 hours to get there, since I was going to speed limit (from my house) and I also had to deal with rush hour traffic. I got there about 6pm and left about midnight. About the time I, going the speedlimit, got to the Cambridge exit, I was passed by guess who... I sped up and was behind her until 694 when our paths diverged (she had driven another girl and had to take her home). I then dropped ack down to the limit and proceeded home.

So this was about 180 miles each way. So I think I got you beat on the distance I'll travel to spend time with her. I've also travelled several times to Webster on days I expect the bar to be slow (like fishing opener, etc.). Perhaps I'll tell you about them someday. Usually (like that day), I ask for time off from work to go see her out of town.

miao!!

Went to see a friend today. See how she was doin'. I've been kinda worried about her lately. Her journals have been very dark and introspective. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I like dark and I especially like introspective. But it sounded like she's been hurting lately, so I thought I'd pay her a visit. A little out of my way, but hell,...

awwwwwww

thanks for the concern by the way. i only have a ring left around the eye so at least i don't look like an ogre anymore.
thejuanupsman:
Hey I am going to stick with it. I never intended not to come back. I just needed a break.

I can totally relate to the other thing you mentioned. I feel that way almost every time I see her. I always have. The reasons have changed over time but the feelings stay about the same. I pretty much agree with what you said at the end of your journal too. Dammit.

What a great day I had today. I'm a "glass is half full" kinda guy anyway, but today was kick-ass. I wish I could give some of my good luck to some of my SG friends who could use it. smile
danielle:
oh please send some my way biggrin
thejuanupsman:
I do my best. Least i can do. I think she is fabulous and she brought me here, and although some parts of the site are losing their lustre for me, I have met some truly fabulous people here. They make me happy. Good to hear you are doing well. I have been doing great but so many people I know have not. nice to hear things are good for at least some people. smile

Fire forces Canadian submarine to surface
USA Today - Oct 05 4:54 PM
LONDON (AP) A submarine that the Canadian Navy had just received from Britain was forced to surface off the Irish coast and send out a distress call Tuesday after a fire broke out on board.

Since when does Canada have fucking submarines???

heh. you win, and im holding you to that. even if you suddenly decide you dont like me that much, you can spare a couple million, throw it my way. wink we could suddenly go on a dream vacation to hawaii!
benni:
ill help you try. hehe... like i said, a minute fraction of your riches would be enough to keep me happy forEVER. and youd best not be joking, cuz if i find out that you won, and you then retract any of these statements, im gonna cry myself to sleep in the corner with a bottle of jack. and i dont even LIKE whiskey.

serious, though, id be happy just to see you for a little bit. its always way too long between visits.

When did they take the romance out of war? Serve your country. Stand by the flag. Send your sons and daughters off to war. Two opposing coalitions meeting in battle where generals and soldiers become heroes and legends. Soldiers come home to jubilant wives and families. Schools are named after the fallen.
As Americans, we knew where we stood. We may not have agreed on...

2 quick points to remark on what you said before i return again to studying for my finals...

1. while i see what you're getting to with the ceo metaphor, the job (while i am not sure how much the president actually does...or at least how much this one does) is fairly taxing for one person. i'd attribute most of that to being the figurehead everyone attacks...plus i have a problem with life-long judicial positions. if the president had a lifelong term, he'd/she'd be a dictator. imo there has to be a happy medium between replacing the pres every year and keeping him in for good. maybe 4 isn't it...

2. i agree that it seems like local politics actually affects our lives more. however, as i see it the national government does effect our lives quite a bit...it's just not as obvious. the lack of state moneys for public education and healthcare are having a real effect in california right now...a major trauma center in los angeles is being shut down not for lack of crime. compared with my home state, ca's public school system is pitiful. these things can't really be fixed by local politics because what is needed is $$ mobilization and that comes from the giant-hand-that-feeds-us. maybe what you are hinting at, though, is that we can AFFECT local politics seemingly much more easily than national politics, which are fairly (and discouragingly so) less accessible.

mindless, thoughtless, blah, blah, blah...
Can't we have an original idea once in a while?

benni:
ooooh! just make sure they don't have the cooties. the deep cooties.
thejuanupsman:
hey how are you? thanks for the advice. i don't know if I ever took it, but still it was appreciated. Things are much better now. Although I may still get fired. The thing is I really wouldn't consider that to be a tragedy. Just a momentary change. I always come out well when those things happen. Anyway hope all is well with you.
