Just spent some time in Duluth. Heres my thought for the day:
The area that now is referred to as Duluth, in northern Minnesota, was claimed for France in 1679 by explorer, Daniel Greysolon, the sieur Du Lhut. He helped make the peace with the local Sioux population, so they named the new town after him.
So heres my idea: lets give France a call, and have them come and get their city. We sure wont miss it! We can have it ready to go by the end of the week. Well even clean it up a little. But we want our deposit back... all of it. And if the city isnt picked-up by the end of the month, then we start billing France for storage. Oh yeah, I want every last seagull outta my state, too. All of them! Leave Lake Superior, please, but everything else goes. Thank-you, France.
Duluth is all you could expect from a city of 86,918 people, of which 80,532 are whites ( yeah, thats 93%). Dont get me wrong, Im as white as they come. But if youre looking for a good time, a little ethnic diversity does make for a happier town.
Anyway, I had to find something to do and the Saratoga Club was calling my name on the off-chance that Benni might be there. No such luck, but I was entertained by the jazz stylings of Billy D and the Geriatrics. Keep the sets short, boys. And dont forget to check the batteries on those pacemakers before each show. So I finished blending with the tourists and headed back to Minneapolis. I changed the sign on my way out of town. It now says:
