Greatness is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are headed. We must sail sometimes with the wind, and sometimes against it ~ but sail we must, not drift nor lie at anchor.

So I have been feeling a little down lately, lonely in a sense. I guess like most, I fall somwhere in the middle of the confidence scale. Lately, though, I am discouraged. Since my divorce, I have dated several girls. Some of them great and others not so much. In either case, there has been no spark, at least not on my part. I am well aware of the whole "it takes time" and "you will find it when you aren't looking" To some extent all of that is true, but the real truth is noone ever stops looking. You can say you have, you can even try to convince yourself that you aren't worried about finding that special someone. This is true for guys and girls. Even when we try to "play the field" or enjoy the single life it is there. Every time we meet a new guy or girl, some part of us asks "is this the one". The problem with finding love is on some level or another we all have a desire to find true love. My problem though is a simple loss of faith. I have been trampled on too many times and now I find it hard to believe that there may be that special someone out there for me. I always here great girls talk about being screwed over by this guy or that, it seems to me it is no different for guys. We seem inclined to go for the bad apples. Guys and girls alike, repeatedly overlook the person that is ready to offer them the world and go for the one that is going to break their heart. My fiath in love is lost, maybe one day I will find it, but for now I am simply fighting the the shadows that surround me and keep putting one foot in front of the other. In the end brighter days always come but it can be just as lonely in the sun.....
