Ok....so the weather man didn't lie this time. The wind is gone, the sun is out and there is 12 inches of new snow on the ground. Time to break out the heavy equipment! I get to try out my new snowblower. The snowplow has not been by on the road yet this morning, but that is not anything new of those of us who live out in the country, as we are usually the last to get our roads cleared. I did note however, that there were tire tracks in the road from sometime last night and then foot prints in the snow from the road up to my mailbox. The paper guy made is way here through the blizzard and then walked from the road up to the mailbox to deliver the paper at some point in the deep, dark , snowy night....talk about dedication!

Really cold here this morning too....about -2....but the sun is shining and it looks beautiful outside with all the new, fresh, white, powdery snow out there

I spent all morning moving, shoveling, blading, pushing and snowblowing snow. It was kinda fun. Mostly, it was just nice to be outside again with the sun shining....and was it shining!

With the snow nearly a foot deep on the ground, the squirrels were really clamoring over the corn that I put out for them. I take pity on them this time of year and put out food for them, when it's hard to find food on their own through the deep snow. They were practically fighting each other to get at the ear of corn that I had put on the feeder. They are kinda like little clowns and they are used to me being around, so they don't run off at the first sight of me. I sat and watched them for a few minutes this afternoon. Cardinals, chickadees and a couple of junko's came to my birdfeeders. I had to sit very still for them to stay around with me being that close to the feeders.....they are a little skittish.

All in all it was a great day, that I enjoyed immensely. Mostly, I just like having something to do outside and a bright glorious day to do it in.
