MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL!!!!!

Have a great Christmas eve and Christmas day......

smile smile smile smile

Almost all my gifts are wrapped. I have a few gifts for my Mom that I haven't done yet, but they will be done before I go to bed tonight. I have 3 dozen eggs that just got hard boiled and are cooling right now....destined to be deviled eggs later tonight. But, for the moment I'm taking a break. I have 18 lbs. of standing rib roast in the fridge that early tomorrow morning will go into the oven to for Christmas dinner. The whole gang will be here, with only a couple of nephews missing this year. We open gifts around 11am. There will be a couple of little ones here of age 7 and under.....I always like to see them open their presents....makes the whole thing worth while. My Mom's health has improved a little in the last couple of weeks, to where I think she'll be able to enjoy the day pretty well. I really miss my Dad at this time of year. He was such a great story teller and he would always tell stories of Christmas when he was a kid.....he really enjoyed Christmas. He was a hard working guy though and almost every year he would not get around to getting my Mom's Christmas present until the last minute. A lady in town who owned a ladies clothing store would always stay open late on Christmas eve, just for Dad to get there and get Mom's present. She knew Mom's sizes and what kind of things she liked and she would always have lots of things picked out and on the counter for Dad to choose from. I can remember many, many times going to town with Dad around 7pm to get to Viven's . Dad would ask me what I thought and I'd always say that I liked them all. Dad would pick each item up, look it over and then act like he really knew what he was looking at saying, "Let's just take them all." Viven would carefully fold everything and place them in boxes.....pulling the colorful Christmas wrapping paper off the huge roll on the counter and tearing it off in one quick motion like an expert. Each box, carefully wrapped, got a ribbon and a bow and it would take both Dad and I to carry all the boxes to the car. Each Christmas morning, as Mom was opening the boxes of gifts, she would ask my Dad how long it took him to pick each thing out and how he managed to get everything in just the right size.....knowing full well that Viven had done all the hard work for him.....Mom would tease and raze him....Dad would have a big grin on his face. Christmas just hasn't been the same the last 12 years without Dad......and it never will be......

Your dad is probably thinking about you too, today.
Your Christmas day sounds like it will have been a good one, with everybody there, and great food and laughs. I am glad to hear that your mom is feeling better.
Merry Christmas, Sabre. smile smile smile smile

We do that all the time! (send notes to each other at the exact same second). That is so funny tongue
I was right, your day was great!

I am going to bed early tonight. I ate so much weird stuff (that I am allergic to), and drank weird drinks (mimosas and port, etc...) that I feel like I spent all day licking a trough of chalk puke I am so dehydrated.
Anyway, you and your family are in my Christmas thoughts.
Love,
Rose
