Geeeez.....updating almost slipped my mind this morning......I guess I'll blame it on the fact that it's a Monday and my focus is still a little fuzzy this morning. 
I had fun in Omaha. Went down to the Old Market part of town, near the Missouri River. Lots of shops and resturants. Of course this time of year, everything is decorated for Christmas. Most of the shops are the trendy, expensive kind, so my wallet stayed in my pocket and I looked but didn't buy. I did go into the tobacco shop and found my favorite cigar. I bought one and found a coffee shop for a large steaming cup of java and sat outside drinking coffee and smoking the most excellent stogie, while watching the rush of humanity go by. People watching is something I really only get to do when I'm somewhere with large populations, but it's one of my favorite things to do. I like to sit and watch and listen....you can see every human condition that exists within about an hour.
Sunday dawned cool, damp and overcast. A hearty late morning breakfast of eggs, chicken fried steak, hashbrowns, biscuits and pancakes from Village Inn warmed my soul as well as my stomach and when the cold rain came around 1pm, it was more of an annoyance than a trouble, thanks to a feeling of satisfaction and well being that can only come from having a full tummy and the feeling that while everything may not be completely right in the world, at least for the moment, everything within a 12 foot radius of you is pretty damn great.
No Christmas shopping was done, but I did come home with a new portable phone for the house.....my old one having died a few days ago, despite my efforts to fiddle with it and make it keep working. I must admit to a certain love of having a new gadget once in a while and this one has a cool red/orange screen and keypad that glows softly when you pick it up to use it. I'm eagerly awaiting the first phone call to come, so that I can smile from ear to ear when picking up my new Motorola phone with the softly glowing red/orange display screen and keypad. I've resisted the silliness of making a call to someone, just to try it out and am using my will power to wait until someone calls me as benchmark to make certain that my sanity is still intact.
Despite the fact that it's a Monday....a day notorious for SNAFU's and a certain malaize that seems to hang over everyone from the weekend that wasn't long enough......I wish for you a peaceful day!

You made me laugh, when you said sometimes you "slay" yourself. That's my number 1 line. "I slay me" It's stopped snowing, has changed to freezing rain. That means I can't drive anywhere, and I must spend time with my SG pals tonight.
