Is it appropriate to say Happy before Halloween? Is it really supposed to be happy, or would it be better to wish a Scarey or Fun Halloween? I think one or both of the latter would be better, now that I think of it. Imagine....all these years I've been saying Happy Halloween.....well, that stops right now! 
By the way, if you arrive an hour early to wherever you're going today or tonight, you've probably forgotten to turn your clock/watch back an hour. This whole time change thing has me a bit ticked....I wish it would just be left alone. I can understand it's origins, but I think it's one of those things that has outlived it's usefulness. Now all it does it create confusion for a day, twice a year. If anyone has any intelligent or compelling reasons why we should keep switching our time back and forth, I'd be willing to listen and possibly change my thoughts about it. Just for the sake of argument, who's to say that just 1 hour is enough....why not 2...maybe even 3?
A short, fast moving, but intense thunderstorm moved through here early Friday evening. It took out both of my satellite TV receivers......so no SAT TV for me for a few days. Luckily, it didn't bother anything else like the TVs or my computer and I still have my "over air" antennae working so at least I can get the local channels. Which for us people who live in the rural boonies is really a misnomer. My closest "local" channel is 100 miles away....yea, I got signal boosters everrywhere in my house so that I can watch decent TV when I'm not watching the satellite.
Today is going to be a quiet day. I have a wedding reception to attend this afternoon. My nephew who was married a month ago in a city clear across the state, will be having a local reception for he and his bride, for all those friends and relatives who couldn't make it to the original reception. I did make it to the wedding and reception last month, but I think I'm pretty much expected to show up at this one too, since it's only 4 miles away. After that, it will be a quiet evening with popcorn, Pepsi and a DVD movie or two for me.
There aren't any kids in my area, so Trick or Treat won't be a problem tonight either. It's really just as well, since I'd only scarf down all the left over candy bars that didn't get passed out and my waistline doesn't need anymore encouragement. I do remember Halloween as a kid though....it was loads of fun. Sadly, the rural areas like mine are continuing to depopulate and youngsters to come around trick or treating are becoming few and far between. I guess as a 46 year old man with no kids, I'm not helping with that problem any, am I?
