It's Hump Day!
You can officially start dreaming about and making plans for the weekend today.
I planted another tree here at home yesterday afternoon. There is something very satisfying about planting something that will probably be there and give enjoyment to people who haven't even been born yet. I distinctly remember planting trees with my Dad and hearing him say, "I'll never get much enjoyment out of these trees, but your grandkids and their kids will." That was 30 years ago and I'm getting enjoyment out of them now....especially since they bring back memories of my Dad.
The badger that had taken up residence under my house hasn't been seen or heard from in days now. He avoided my traps and I have a suspicion that he/she has finally vacated the premises. Apparently I made to much noise or something. Unfortunately, at some point I need to verify the he/she is actually no longer there, which means crawling back into the crawl space under the old part of the house to verify his/her occupancy or lack there of.....a job I'm not looking forward to. Mostly because if it's still there and I somehow get it cornered or make it feel like it's cornered, it's gonna come at me like hell on wheels! Badgers are not the kind of animal you want to be confronting in an enclosed crawl space with no way to quickly retreat. It's going to have to be done eventually, but I'm going to have some extra help around when I do it and go in with my flashlight and a large caliber pistol.
Sunshine abounds today, although the weather prognosticators are prognosticating rain for us later tonight and into tomorrow. It's been very dry for the last couple of weeks and we could use a good soaking rain to settle the dust and give us a little subsoil moisture. I actually like a cool, rainy fall night.....
I have absolutely no plans for the weekend yet. Not that that is much different from any other Wednesday....something always seems to come along eventually.....or if it doesn't, I take the bull by the horns and try to make something happen. Either way, I'm going to do something wild, crazy and completely out of character this weekend......it's been awhile since I've done that and I just feel like it's time to cut loose a little!
