I'm a little annoyed today. Actually, I had 2 things that me annoyed, one to a lesser degree and the other to a much greater degree.
I promise that this is the last time I will mention the thunderstorms that we've been having this week....but I just have too mention it one more time, because it's integral to my little journal story.
The thunderstorms rolled in about 8:30 last night. I made sure that my computer, modem, TV, stereo system, etc. were all unplugged. Lighting can really wreck havoc on these expensive electircal gizmos. At about 10:30, after the storms had passed and moved on to the east, I went around plugging everything back in. When I started the computer, I had no internet service. I use a wireless microwave setup, to my local ISP. So, here comes the first annoyance.....internet down....what the hell? So checking all of my equipment and even going outside with a flashlight in the dark to check my antenae, convinced me that all my stuff was ok and that lighting must've taken out the ISP or it's tower or something. Yeah, I was annoyed, but I decided to go read for awhile and check back later to see if it was back on line.
As I started to read, I got to thinking.....second, bigger annoyance....I was annoyed at myself for having let myself become so damn dependent on having the internet ,on and at my demand all the time. It ticked me off that I was so upset when I found out that I was offline. I hate feeling dependent to a stupid machine like this.
I guess it's the easy ability to communicate with others and get info off the web that lured me into my dependency. To a lessor degree, I have the same problem with my cell phone. Luckily, I can easily feel comfortable turning the cell phone off and being incommunicado for awhile with no problem.
It's more and more becoming an electronic world and life and I've always taken some pride in the fact that I've never let some of these gizmos really get a grip on me. Hence, my great annoyance with myself for my weakness showing up last night.
So, the ISP is now fixed and working....I'm not so annoyed with myself any more and have resolved to enjoy the luxuries of life when they are available, but to stay self reliant and not to get upset when something as small as not having internet access for awhile happens.
Lesson learned!
Happy TGIF everyone!

I get really upset when I can't get on line. It is a kind of a lifeline, for me, in a way.
Glad you are back on.
So, you said you would shoot me an e-mail about yourself. Let's hear it!
