Good Day to All,
By way of an introduction, I figured my first blog post on SG should be on another topic that really excites me (aside from the obvious one) - and that other topic for me just happens to be philosophy.
Now I know what you're thinking: "What a BORING topic considering the incredibly beautiful picture sets this blog post is competing with!" - and I couldn’t agree more - but oh well, here it goes anyway:
At various times in my life I have self-identified myself both as an Atheist and as an Anti-Theist - and while I do still have sympathy with those positions, I am more inclined today to identify myself as a Romantic-Satanist (i.e., someone who is inspired by the Satanic School of 17th, 18th, and 19th century Romantic poets, writers, and artists like John Milton, William Blake, Mary Shelley, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Lord Byron and Henry Fuseli - just to name a few) or as a Titanist (i.e., someone who is inspired by the stories and myths of Titans like Prometheus, who rebelled against Olympus to secure humankind a life beyond sacrificial servitude by gifting the fire of the forge and the light of knowledge - the fire that he steals from Olympus being emblematic of the power of technological science to free us from imposed scarcity and enforced ignorance). At least in my own mind, these two positions amount to a more positive claim about what I do believe in rather than what I don't believe or what I stand in opposition to.
The philosophers that have had the greatest impact on my life are Zarathustra and Friedrich Nietzsche (especially The Birth of Tragedy and Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Nietzsche). I have come to be convinced that the Gathas that were written by Zarathustra are the origin point of where philosophy begins in the ancient world and that Ahura Mazda (translation, "Titanic Wisdom" or "Titan of Wisdom" - the creator to whom the Gathas are addressed) was also an inspiration for the ancient Greco-Roman mythologies and stories of Prometheus (whose name means "Forethought").
Let me add that I have also come to believe that the story of the rebellion of the Watcher angels in heaven (as presented in the book of Enoch and hinted at in the bible) is just a retooling of the ancient myths of the Titans - myths and legends like those of Prometheus and Atlas.
