Well, when he comes over in a few days amke him have that talk with you. It's completly unreasonable of him to not want to talk to you. You are in a strange country, and that's difficult enough, and i'm sure studying through a whole other language isn't a picnic, and he shouldn't be putting extra hassle on you now.
