In final preparations for Burning Man. Camping with a smaller camp this year...only about 50-60 people. Last years village was A-mazing (Tasty Con Sol...combination of 5 camps...Tasty, Conexus, Sol System, Heart Deco, Airpusher)...being in a camp big enough to be printed on the official Burning Man map was great and easy for friends to find me...but a village is a LOT of work...
(Time to reminisce)
I was the lighting and power lead for the village so I was constantly setting up and making sure everyone had power and the kitchen was well lit for the cooking shift to prepare our delicious (gourmet) food. This pretty much left me with very sleep the entire week as after getting back to camp close to morning...someone would always be looking for me to get the power running for the morning shift to prepare breakfast. On a side note...our food smelled so good that random people usually tried to line up and get some of our food during meal times and we had to deny them because it was for people in our camp who paid for and volunteered for the meal plan. But I have to say...coming back to the camp after a long day to almost restaurant quality meals was a delight (Hats off to you Tasty!). Should be similar with the food this year since I'm camping with the camp that was responsible for the food last year. Will also have a bar again as well as 2 art installations.
TastyConSol had a bar with daily happy hours for people to come by and drink while being entertained by one of our many DJ's playing music from either one of our two DJ system equipped art cars (the Heart Deco double decker bus and Air Pusher's Artful Dodger). Having two art cars was an AMAZING convenience...at any time it was possible to hop on to either art car and get chauffeured around the playa always knowing that both art cars will eventually take us back to camp. Added to that...our village also had a large swamp cooled (green air conditioning) dome so we could all pile in and take a nap during the blazing hot mid day.
2010 was a great burn.
Can't wait for the Rites of Passage.
