SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE 100TH JOURNAL POST
I figured I would do something different for my 100th journal post, but I was having a hard time figuring out what it should be. But the other day I was in an unusually reflective frame of mind and it occurred to me that, as a music fan, I have been blessed to have lived through an amazing period of time in the evolution of rock n roll. I have had the opportunity to watch bands I have loved go from small clubs to huge stadiums. Ive seen groups develop and grow as artists and build amazing careers and extraordinary bodies of work. All-in-all, its been a blast and I wouldnt trade some of the great times Ive had for anything. Below is a list I threw together of a bunch of the artists Ive had the pleasure and privilege of seeing live over the years. Its far from a complete list; Ive seen hundreds of shows by obscure bands that never really amounted to much, but I've tried to remember everybody of importance Ive seen who meant something to me. I put it in alphabetical order for lack of any other way to organize it. They say that when you start out to climb a mountain it looks very daunting as you stand at the base and look up at it. Then, you slowly climb one step at a time, just looking at whats immediately in front of you and forget how far up it looked before you started. At some point, you pause and look back down at the ground below you and you are startled to see how far you have come now that you have some distance behind you. Here is my mountain:

but seriously, that is a super impressive "seen live" list. i think that list includes the majority of my favorite bands.. shit. i was born too late!
