I'm from a small town that only had one high school. The next closest town was 15 min drive down country roads. My parents don't lock their house at night or when they leave because they don't have to worry about anything. My dad routinely leaves the car unlocked with the windows down and his cd collection out and in plain view. It took me a while to get the hang of locking widows and doors when I left the house to go somewhere. It used to drive David crazy when I would forget a window. I used to consider myself a small town girl. But that girl died last night.
The weather was far too bright and sunny when I woke up this morning. It all hit me harder than I thought it would. I came out unscathed. I was lucky. But I've got some emotional scarring. For the first time in a long time I had to literally make myself eat today. That scares me.
I feel drained. I need to sleep. I can't even describe how much the life of a hermit appeals to me right now.
