Hello. I'm new and working my way around the site.
silverjimmy:
Hey there, sorry it took me so long to respond to you. Problem is, your question is a little vague/broad, so it's hard to answer. IT often implies doing sysadmin, hardware, help desk, networking, and/or DBA work, but can also mean programming (though usually for information systems, not desktop/mobile/web/etc). In addition, each of these can be done on an Apple, Microsoft, or *nix platform and can be quite different on each, and certification paths are different as well.

You should join the IT group and look around to see if your questions have been answered and/or post your questions there. They will probably have better answers for you than I will; I don't get my hands dirty much with IT anymore.

My general advice is to look into Community Colleges. Budget cuts are likely going to make that route a little more difficult, but it still probably your best bet -- they tend to be cheaper and have better teachers than you'll find at most private vocational school.

Sorry I couldn't offer much help, hopefully you will fare better in the IT group.
