Walled up inside
my plasticine heart
the blood turns stale.

My fingers trace the edge
of artifice.

A carefully constructed lie.

Those cracks I feel now
will widen with time
and shatter
no doubt.

And,
when breath becomes ash
and shards of the thing
float around in my chest,
I'll remember a time
when everything worked
and tears were easy to stop.

Hey...

There aren't that many men, trust me. What happened with the guy friend the week-end before was a freak occurence. We had been partying and drinking all night, and he just happened to come home with me because he couldn't crash elsewhere. I was very emotional shortly after I wrote that journal entry, because that was the first time I ever brought a friend home for casual sex and it felt very strange. I was physically exhausted and feeling the depressant affects of the alcohol. Most of all, however, I think I was just plain stunned. There is a physical attraction between us, and nothing more. I care for him dearly as a friend. I used to think there was something more, but I now realize there isn't. Certainly not enough to sustain the stronger feelings I thought I once had.

I've been such a shit for writing you back, and I really do apologize. There's so much I've been meaning to comment on, your band, your artwork, and other things. I will write you more, I promise...

I'm glad you had a good time with your son. That picture is great! kiss

After a morning
of making
sandwiches,

a clock-like face,
smooth
and supple,
etched in flesh,
streches out
like a man

between two sheets.

So the bugs won't bite.

Some walls
seem crazy
to climb.

Others,
like feathers,
just find their way
into
your lap.

have a hearty day, all.

You should move to Tranna; it's most certainly a city for a hipster such as yourself.

I am not quite hip enough to live there, but I CAN visit!

The air is thick with hate.

It's funny how the bricks fall out.

I couldn't sing if I wanted to,
and someone will take the blame.

A job that widens the gap.

A gun that isn't loaded.

Eating like a little pig
with a petrol powered smile.

The bullets fell like rain.

Trying leads to dying.

We'll all be working in mines
and forgetting to...

slowly, slowly we danced away.
as the music burned and the walls fell.
all of us screaming and writing it down.
hiding in cupboards
and falling off cliffs.
slowly, slowly we danced away.
until the world ended and we all
laughed out loud.

The Hospital

At 2:00 in the morning,
like it is now,
when the pump,
wheezing gears and tubes,
began to move,
my father drew circles in the air,
to occupy the hours,
high on pain and painkillers,
the night after and the years before,
unable to speak;
I watched,
eyes dark with youth,
fatigue,
not understanding,
until later,
when dinner plates,
portioned off with care,...

The Thief

There was a fever chill in the air as Thomas stepped out of the house into the night. He shivered slightly and walked up the road to the corner store. The garish green neon sign blinked intermittently and it hurt his eyes to look at it. A whoosh of warm air greeted him as he walked through the automatic sliding doors and it...
