Well we made it back in one piece though this was an interesting trip to Atlantic City. We both started with winning streaks. My wife was doing slightly better in the first few days. I would only be able to keep even or just a little bit ahead...which is always good but not my normal routine. Tuesday proved to be a big giant slap in the face. I started the day with a $200 payout from video poker in the morning. Good things were going to happen...wrong! We made our way back to our hotel/casino and started playing a little bit there on the video poker and nothing. Here's where it gets interesting...
We went to play some black jack after that. My wife sat down at a table. I had planned to sit but the chair had somebodies stuff in it. There were two Asian ladies at the table, one sitting next to my wife, then an open space with the chair of junk, the other Asian lady, then an older guy sitting at first base and playing 2 hands. Normally when a dealer sees people interested in playing they ask you and then ask the other players to make room. This was not the case this time around. The dealer was Asian as well and was listening intently on the conversation of these two ladies as they were speaking in there language. I finally spotted a seat at the next table and sat down. About 5 minutes later at my wife's table an Asian man stop to watch at the same spot that I was standing. He was offered the seat that had the junk in it!!! What the hell? I'd come to realize that these ladies didn't want me sitting there because of my race! I've had it happen to me at a restaurant in Hong Kong but I thought we're past these times. Apparently not!
Needless to say the rest of the day was a losing effort. We left early on Wednesday so that we didn't get stuck in Thanksgiving Eve traffic and to stop the bleeding! I still walked a way with the casino's money but as usual my wife gave them back more than I could gain. It just wasn't as much this time! We're back there in December. Hopefully I won't run into a situation like this one. If I do then I will be a little more assertive and have a space cleared for me to play!
