Well... After a significant amount of navigating the hellish automated maze that is the DMV information line, driving to 3 DMV offices in the East Bay only to discover that they are now closed every third MOnday of the month in order to be open every thrid Saturday, I finally managed to sort out what went wrong.
You see I had a minor car accident in June of 2002 - and apparently the DMV did not record my proof of insurance, so they suspended my drivers license in September of 2002 - and didn't bother to tell me.
After much shouting and shaking of fists I finally got the DMV to admit that they had fucked up - although I did have to take a day off work to sort out their bullshit.
Oh well.
It's all over now so I'm going to spend the rest of the evening watching Invader Zim.
