Found along hiking trail by a creek ford. Guess someone dropped it from their backpack or it washed down from upstream camp sites?
She's a bit rusty and her facial features are worn, but judging from the overall feel, weight, finish, and lack of contemporary gaudish mold marks *note: Chinese cast iron knockoffs have them plus porous or grainy finish* I'd say she's a good bet for being a 40's - 60's original. Later years are thinner and lighter in weight, some even made of Pot metal that doesn't age or function nearly as well.
Now, where'd I put my last sixer of Flying Dog's Snake Dog IPA to see how she performs?
Oh, yeah... She shows a bit o stamped hallmark under her feet. Rubbing the spot with Qtips dipped in distilled water and dabbed in Creme of Tartar is an excellent way to bring back a stamp on old cast iron that's seen age or rust issues, or coated with layers of paint. It creates a mild acid, stronger than vinegar but way less that sulfuric or hydrochloric so it's safe if careful. Also I'll rekindle my Dremel tool skills and see how good I am at reconstructing her face - she deserves it! Not quite sure if I'll paint her, but lately @maud and @allis have been sporting some incredibly Gorgeous tattoo ideas for giving her some SG style, eh? I'm open to suggestions too! A friend suggested I give her a "Bride of Frankenstein" look with lime green skin, skillfully painted stitches, and blend the white streak in her otherwise black hair onto the bottle top popper. Thoughts?
And well, I've gone this far without mentioning her Boobs are quite "handily" in great shape!!! You might even pick out a bit of shine in the photo where I was "testing her finish" haha!
And lastly ... She needs a proper name! Again, I'm very open to suggestions, thanks!
Will follow up with progress in the coming weeks. Cheers 🍻
