Rough Week... but with a bright ending....

UGH! What a week here....

It's not been a good one overall, especially from a 'house' perspective... On Sunday, one of the cabinets in the kitchen 'detached' unexpectedly and made quite the mess of broken glasses and dishes (as well as my Keurig machine!). If it wasn't for the CorelleWare and Pyrex dishes, it would have been a total loss. Amazing how resilient that CorelleWare is! Worst part was it clipped a can of soda that decided to spray most of the kitchen (and me). The scary part was that I was just getting ready to go into the kitchen to get our recycles to put out for collection and would have be right in front of it when it fell. Yes, that freaked me out for a while and was shaking all through the clean-up and into the night. Someone, though, was looking out for me!

Then, after all that is finally cleared up, the Water Heater fails. My home office is right outside the utility/mechanical room in the house, and I heard this hissing noise. I got up to get something and water just gushed up through the carpet. UGH! I open the door only to find water all over the place. To my surprise, the shopvac only picked up about 12 gallons (tank was 50 gallons). When the repair/replace guys got here, they confirmed the failure was in the upper part of the tank, which explained the limited water. Of course, since it was an emergency call, it was $$$$ to have it replaced.

Just when I thought it was over, the next morning, the one area of carpet was still soaked. I go back into the utility room and there is a small pool of water at the base of the brand new water heater. A quick inspection found a leak in the supply line. When the plumber came back, it turned out to be a pinhole in the solder.

Fortunately (**knock on wood**), that was the last of the problems. Still have some clean-up to do, and getting things back to 'normal' (whatever that is anymore...). Would appreciate some good thoughts to get through this!

The bright spot was two-fold... First up was last night when my daughter successfully passed the 3rd part of her 1st Degree Black Belt test. She's been doing Kenpo for 8 years now and gets her adult-level 1st Degree at only the age of 12! Second bright spot was her report card - 3.83/4.00 overall (5 A, 1 B). She's an amazing young woman!!
