SOME THINGS ARE AWFUL.
examples:
1.) my internet was broken for five days. FIVE DAYS! that is an eternity when you live in a new city and don't know anyone and live in a neighbourhood where the only thing to do when you want to have fun is go to another neighbourhood.
2.) my digital camera ceased working as soon as i uploaded my recent photos to the computer. ANGER! i have shook it a lot and smashed it on the desk but the lens won't retract and if i try to turn it on/off it just beeps at me.
3.) my stupid laptop that i love so much has a faulty power cord so i can't use it till i buy another god damn power cord. apple wants $100!!! with my hus-bot's student discount, i can pay $70, but i think i will just look for a third-party cord that doesnt cost so damn much.
4.)someone is using photos from my waiting to be queued set. ON FACEBOOK. wtf?? how did they even GET them? i thought i put them on myspace but it turns out i haven't!
5.) i got a wicked sunburn at the beach on sunday!! also i think i saw someone drown. it was terrible. the lifeguards rushed out to pull this dude from the water and it took them a really long time and they dragged him onto the beach and a bnunch of backup vehicles came up and then a crowd formed and later, as we were leaving the beach and walking to the car we passed where the paramedics were trying to make him breathe or something, and his face was blue and he was not conscious. the whole way home we tried to figure out how it would be medically possible for him to survive.
NOT EVERYTHING IS SHITTY.
examples:
1.) i started a balcony garden! i have flowers (snapdragons, alyssum, verbena and a yellow one i can't remember the name of), herbs (chocolate mint, thyme, lavender) and fruit (strawberries, jalepeno peppers, japanese eggplant)! wowww! a couple of the snapdragons and one of the alyssum are dying but i think it's transplant shock, since everything else is fine.
2.) i was at children's beach and there were 4000000 harbour seals hanging out because it is pupping season and i guess that's what they do from dec-may. my first thought was 'AWWWW!' and my second was 'what's that smell?' seals smell TERRIBLE. you heard it here first!
3.) here is a photo that marksman303 took as i was dozing in the back of his car on the drive down to CA.
4.) mexican food♥ I LOVE IT. i have been elbow deep in rolled tacos, potato burritos, potato tacos, guacamole, horchata, bean and cheese burritos ♥!
5.) i have been decorating. this has involved me attaching small dinosaurs to the cupboards with sticky tack. i would provide photographic evidence if my god damn camera was working.
6.) i have been baking a LOT. most recently, i made baking powder biscuits last night. yurm!
7.) most of the stuff i'd assumed was lost in the mail showed up intact! it turns out the box that broke was filled with art supplies, an expensive photo of lavonne that i bought in 2006, my rocks that have fossils in them (sob!), a bunch of books/dvds/cds, a bunch of prints that i was going to hang up (some hindu deities rockin' out, a print of the bow river my pal darcy did, a foil reproduction of an antique map, some really awesome postcards i picked up at left bank books in seattle, like la sirena, a heart, a skeleton, this rad sketch of feet...). even though a bunch of that stuff is gone i have most of the important things so i'm very lucky.
8.) i went to the birch aquarium the other day. it was fab!
9.) i love cuttlefish SO much. they are the coolest animal ever. i just watched the NOVA special on them and i am in luuuurve.
in honour of them, i am wearing my cuttlefish wifebeater today. here are photos from when i made it (oct, 2005) since, once again, my camera is broken!

11.) i saw bright eyes the other night. unfortunately most of the songs from the new cd, casadega, were played, and i don't really like the album!! it was cool to hear a couple old favourites but none of the songs i REALLY wanted to hear were played! of course, i like songs from way back so i bet ol' conor is tired of playing songs from 2003. i don't blame him but i realllly wanted to hear 'june on the west coast' and 'bowl of oranges'. ohhh well.

But the place I went most recently is in Cuyamaca off the 79 (off the 8 east) and it's called Casa Picacho, it's my favorite
and soooo good looking.
