Last night I watched Alien vs Predator: I'll try to make a critic a-la Roger Ebert (wich I like a lot).
AVP is a cross between two extra-terrestrial races known as Aliens and Predators, and a lot of mythology through this like Aztecs/Egyptians/Cambodians (not sure of the name). That movie deals with the fact that Predators we're gods to primitive humans races like Aztecs and they taught them how to build pyramides. That hapenned a lot of centuries ago. Predators would come every ceturies to get 7 humans as sacrifices that they would let metamorphose into Aliens that would reproduce. The challenge for the Predators is that 3 hunters would try to exterminate the Aliens to prave that they're worthy Hunters.
In this movie we see the real difference between the Aliens and the Predators: Aliens are a lot more aggressive and they use their instinc, altough, they're really impressive at making one with their environment. Pre dators are a lot more Hunters, as we see it in the movie. They seem to be superior to Aliens and humans about intelligence. They are a lot more technologically advanced a they're a very honorable race in fact.
I won't give anything else about the movie, you just have to wacth it, but there are 2 questions that remain in my brain: 1) Like we see in Predator and Predator 2, Predators come on earth at particularly hot tropical temperatures, in AVP, how the hell can they survive Antartica??!? 2) Aliens need humans to reproduce themselves faster, like we can see in any Alien movies. Why do they kill humans like butchery meat in AVP. In order to beat the Predators, they should make a bigger legion.
Overall, that was a good movie, entertaining for a hour and a half. If you look at the series Alien and Predator, if you look closely enough, there's a lot more paradoxes that don't really fit in the story.If you're a paranoiac like me I mean. But if you just want to get your mind off, and if you like those two movies, that would be alright. To conclude, There's a great atmosphere, in the production they really thaught about it, I think, and they really crossed the two movies together, unlike Freddy vs Jason which was just separating the two feelings from each other.
