So it has recently come to my attention that many educated worldly people seem to have missed a few of lifes most basic lessons. Here is a refresher:

If you try to take something back to a store without a receipt, you will not get a refund. Not even if youre white and well dressed and have lots of precious metal charge cards. If you insist that you paid for it on one of these cards and they run them all and you didn't, you really won't get a refund.

See its like this: people steal stuff. If stores let you steal stuff and take it back, they wouldn't just be out the wholesale cost, but in fact the retail cost. This is called bad business. If you think you don't look like someone who steals stuff, youre wrong.

Also, if something in a store is shrink wrapped, don't open it. Even if youre not sure what it is and if you want it. If you do, don't be such a complete dumbass as to take to the register and try to have the clerk explain whether you want it or not and then decide you don't after all. This will make them angry and want to charge you a restocking fee. If they do want to charge you an idiot tax, er, restocking fee, do not stand there and argue with them if they don't have your credit card or any way to make you pay. This will not work, they will simply use smaller words, for you are obviously fresh off the hipster short bus.
