So I talked to the 3 people who I know I was dickish too last week and everything is okay. I am always a ball buster and a smartass, but this stuff was blatant and mean, not jokey at all. And well, these people I crushed on early and that stuff's kinda cooled down and I think I vented some RL shit, so again, I apologize...

On to RL....

My band played my late friend, Johnny's benefit on the 18th. It went great. The place was packed, they had 130 baskets for the basket auction, and they auctioned off tons of cool stuff, Guitars, Sabres tickets, Bills tickets, signed jerseys, hockey sticks, etc. I think the family did very well and I'm thankful for that.

Our band started out playing some classic 70s stuff. Then after 5 or 6 songs, our guitar player, George, sat down and Johnny's oldest son, Chris, got up and we played one of his originals. (it's funny, the kid is kinda EMO, Gothy and the tune was strongly reminiscent of early Cure). We brought George back up and we did one of Johnny's favorite old songs, kind of his theme song...

Then Chris and George sat down, and our singer/drummer, Bobby, and I did an acoustic version of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". Bobby, Johnny and I started a version of this band in 1979, which lasted a few years and then broke up as I moved on to bigger bands. Bobby and I got back together a few years ago and started the band back up after my last project split up. We tried to get in touch with Johnny, but never had any luck. Not until we found out he had cancer did we actually see him. Fuck.

Needless to say, I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. It was a pretty intense moment and I think I saw everyone singing along at one point or another. Just one of those singular moments, and we were glad to honor our old friend...
