So, i've always had to laugh at our holidays and how quickly they get whored out, espescially Memorial Day. I understood at a young age what it was about, but the way it was sold with car ads and parties confused me. And then on the radio this weekend i hear:

So let's celebrate this Memorial Day with funk!

I'm for a good time, but i just find it odd celebrating a lot of young lives cut short with funk. I kept imagining all these boys storming Normandy shouting, "For funk!" I suppose we're celebrating the freedom these lives have bought, i just don't understand what's sacred anymore. I have a brother about to go to Iraq, so maybe it's just a newfound respect, so i was wondering what everybody else's thoughts were.
