Hello SG land, I was missing for a couple of weeks as my PC was sacked by a virus, and is still in limbo. Had fun B-Day and Thanksgiving partys, lotsa dancing and feasting. Seems the good comes with the bad as I also got a horrible flu.
Winter is here, albeit a few weeks early. Snow fell two times this week...awesome! Won a poker...

Yes, the thing that Mike would really love to do is CG animation, as opposed to pictures, he just did those for me because he thought I'd like them. Traditional, 'physical' art is my forte. smile

I'm glad you liked my silly poem, although I stress that I'm not really that easily corrupted! Richness of character seems to be all I have for now. biggrin

I'm glad you had a fun Birthday. kiss

I'd definitely like to check out Norway in early June. I'm wondering how I'll like the daylight though, seeing as I really thrive at night. I couldn't be more curious about the place smile

The ice hotel... as in the hotel made out of ice? shocked

Thanks to all for the positive comments on my Halloween
poem, Autopsy of Bliss. Now that my favorite holiday is over, I would be slightly upset if it weren't for the beginning of Hockey season. Yea! More literary malfeasance to follow I'm sure. skull I will leave you with a lovely and a desidedly crude work by one of my favorites, and be sure to...

Halloween approaches... My favorite time of the year!!! Here in Madison we are legendary for the riots that occur on State St. every Halloween. And every year they ask the same question? What will we do to prevent them? I think there is a simple solution... All the bars close at 2:30, and at this time there is a massive drunken mob as people all...

I regret that I'm not able to go out this Hallowe'en, so no fancy dress for me. Have you decided on your costume yet? Had I been able to go out, I think I would have either been Wonder Woman or Carrie, depending on my mood.

I have yet to decide what my New Year's Eve costume will be, but I am quite determined that it will not be a complete cliche. Last year I went as Anck-su-Namun from The Mummy - I should really scan the night's pics so they can go in to my Pics folder. smile

Have a lovely weekend and I hope there are not too many riots! We have similar problems here. This town is apparently the fourth most violent place in the country, although I'm not sure how accurate that information is. biggrin

I have very similar beliefs: Although apart of an organized and human-controlled Religion, I do not subscribe to the 'blind faith' school of thought. Paradoxically, this is the main reason that I have not, like so many others, abandoned my Religion and all hope of an afterlife with it. I do not and never have believed the twee notions of God and Heaven; God is not a giant, bearded man, Heaven is not a place, bathed in white light with pearly gates and Hell is not a place with burning lakes of sulphur.

My religion is controlled by lots of rich men in the Vatican, which is incredibly powerful and where there is power, there is corruption. Even if there was no deliberate manipulation, the fact that it is controlled by people makes it highly fallible. Human beings make many, many mistakes. The Bible should never be taken literally. In Islam, the Quor'an is believed to be the revelations that came directly from God, but the Bible is a series of books all written by men, sometimes hundreds of years after the event they describe. For example, it was actually a Catholic priest who told me that the story of the universe's creation, and Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis should never be taken literally, as it could not have happened that way - It was just Abraham's way of explaining that which he could not understand.

So because I never had such flimsy illusions shattered by common-sense, I was never disallusioned with my faith which, all human-influence and ignorance aside, simply means that one should not live one's life at the expense or to the detriment of another person. I think that's fair enough. I believe that if pure evil exists, then, by the same logic, pure good must also exist; they are simply two extreme points on the same scale.

I am also incredibly fascinated by the human consciousness; we use less than a third of our brains and we access only 1% of our DNA. What other abilities are latent within us? The human mind is boundless if we can remember not to focus solely on our everyday social constraints. Society and academia are not the be-all and end-all. Besides, not all theories on life after death are borne from purely religious theology: There is scientific evidence to suggest that there could be life after death. As your journal states,
"Energy does not disappear."
It simply converts in to a different form of energy. I find this thought reassuring, although we never really know if there is life after death until we have made that inevitable journey.

Edited to amend a typo.

Saw the Dresden Dolls perform tonight. What a surprise, as I learned about this show from a very close friend of mine whom was the opening act: Faun Fables Wow! Its cool to see an old friend acheiving rock star status, and I was still able to hobnob amongst the celebs. Ahh the cult of personality, huh? Maybe I'll post some pics if I get...

I recently got a recipe for Brandy from the Balkan cookbook, which contains various strange dishes that I'm not sure I would eat unless out of necessity (things like bears head and pig brains...) The philosopher said "Washing is an extraordinary custom, we are washed both on coming into the world and on going out of it, and we take no pleasure from the first nor any profit from the last.
