i have a theory, after a year of living in salem and years past living near saratoga, that the natives of tourist towns all know each other and are relatively good friends because the natives vs the tourists becomes an us against them mentality very, very quickly. perhaps the locals will be infighting again by april when this crap starts all over again? we shall see.
the small town thing is still weird for me. i like it for the most part, but some days it is a little much. sometimes i wish i were anonymous again.

I know what you mean, I live in the closest tourist town from Mexico City and we have that same situation every single long weekend or holiday...
