(was going to edit last post, but the tonal shift was so wildly inappropriate, I decided to start a new one.)
So my dad is in the midst of chemo, and dislikes his liquid food with a passion. I can't tell whether he hasn't absorbed the reality of it, or if this is just him, amazingly, treating this the same way he hastreated eveythign else...

If you're a fan of The Guild and it's star/co-creator Felicia Day - well you will find this hilarious. If you don't know it but you're a fan of MMOs, you will probably still find it amusing. If you're neither, you will have the little "wtf?" balloon over your head right now.

nice.
So it looks like my dad will start his first round of chemo this week, then another two weeks after, then surgery. This means I'll be heading to PA around Labor day.
I don't think the scope of the treatment has really sunk in for him yet. He keeps telling me how he's going to be going for walks a couple weeks after. I tired...

I hate to admit to you how long it took me to figure out the "pointy-ears" reference, but let it suffice to say that I have taken it upon myself to tear up my geek card.
Again, best of luck with all that you are going through with your father, and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

I hope it all goes well. I'm wishing the best!
Behold, the dance of the ferrofluids:
Amazing stuff.
Still no word on my dad's surgery date.

Yes, I am. Gimme a call at around 10ish?
A few weeks ago, my father had a nasty bout with what seemed to be one of those very bad upper respiratory infections that has been making the rounds. With some difficulty - and steroids - it seemed to subside, but later he realized he was still coughing, and it was still bothering him. A subsequent visit to the doctor showed that he actually had...

Thank you!
You should check out the other videos that come up with that clip.
The lonely angel one is pretty cool too.
Also, my best wishes are still out to you and yours. If you need to relax with some wine, bug me. I've got a party tonight and then a beach picnic tomorrow, but yeah.

I do hyperanalizing too when things like that happen... mum says i should have been a doc... can't help it! Im really sorry and i hope things got well for your dad as they find out whats wrong with him...And they are some advances on that kind of intervention... I hope your family stays close to him and he can be strong to face this with a lot of courage... it seems the way of dealing of the patiences and the support they get help them lots to get better though this things... if they are approachable people. *Hugs*
You might think this might be crazy but my dad got a surgery a couple of months ago or so and the anesthetist told him something we have noticed but he well... he got that surgery after suffering lots of pain and almost collapsing his kidneys or his heart cause his also hypertensive and pain made him speed up....so he got his prostate surgery... so well when the anesthetist heard him talk she was like: i dont like that voice you should go immediately and check it out... even before this surgery but ok just do it right after the surgery... his voice is getting worse and worse... sometimes he coughs and i think hes gonna collapse... my mom and i live terrified in a way cause he refuses to go to the doc and still drinking and smoking which docs have told him he should not.
I dunno... I care but at the same time my dad is like talking to a wall.. he is not very sensitive person at all, he seems not caring about anyone not even himself... so one side i one to force him to go to the docs but other side things... does it really worth it? He didn't have asked me any single question since im back at home about my medications, treatment or how i am doing...cause he doesn't give a damn shit, But im not like him ...so i will prob ask him for an appointment and if he doesn't go i can get angry or give up! Prob the second would be the most accurate.
btw thanks for the cats support
Stay strong *HUGS*

Damn, that was a long and slow departure. llouys!
Anybody know any good recipes for apricots? A tree fell over into the driveway of our apartment complex, and it was free pickings - four massive bowls worth. I like them, but I don't know if I can eat four bowls worth. Jam, I guess, a shitload of jam.
Short vacation over, in any case....

Luckily, I'm no longer depressed
Due to various crises in which I was the helpful one, plus bad management at my company, plus - okay, I'll admit it - a certain degree of procrastination, I was hit with a very nasty deadline (a government deadline) right before some scheduled vacation. Well, there was only one thing to do: goto Zeitgeist, then work for 12 hours, then go sleep, then go...

A special providence indeed, my friend.
And I would call Wilson the Wild Thing if he weren't an official Jesus Freak. Ah well. When you throw 98MPH with movement, you're allowed to believe in magic.

Will I be seeing you later today?
Well the police have nothing, but she seems to be doing much better. We spent much of the evening at Aces the other night, talking about of all things, Star Trek. When the joys of geekdom resurface, it's a good sign.
Speaking of which, if by some wild chance you haven't seen this:

Thaks to everyone for the well wishes and offers of help. Unfortunately, some people don't really want to be helped in a constructive way. Sorry to say I've had to wash my hands of it to a certain extent.
Oh, I'm posting this here because I'm posing it everywhere: Please pass this fax number as widely as possible: 001 773 321 0202. The University of...

give it time. call in back up if you need to. I hope, other than the obvious, things are going well for you.
A friend of mine was attacked in her hotel room last night, and had to fight them off for about thirty minutes. She screamed, she yelled, she broke shit.
Nobody came to her defense.
The only small caveat that goes with this is that it was a shitty hotel in a shitty part of town where I warned her she should not be staying. But...
