Well, keep knocking on wood; things on the house are moving apace. Can't quite believe it.

Agreed and agreed. You are right. The local stuff here was discouraging, though. As you said, it was not entirely surprising, but I'm deeply disappointed in how many good people got uprooted (and how many suck people's roots grew deeper still). And I was also responding to some hard core folks in my life who are/were Obama bashing. Still and all, it looks like this will bring us four more years, and hopefully better turnover in the future. I read a nice piece today about how the centrists rather than the "liberals" were the ousted. I'm not sure I entirely agree that it was centrism that got them (because how were they supposed to run against nutjobbers with support), but it is something to consider.

Unrelated - if I knew you were from PA, I forgot. Good stuff! I'm hoping to end up there in the fall, but no idea if that will materialize.

They really do have giant brass balls.

So: more or less given up on the old house, but lo and behold, a new opportunity has come along. Nearly the same square footage, with a nifty downstairs and a lush yard, centrally located... well, centrally in a sleeping town far north of Berkley. Things are moving quickly.

Scrolling up is a good thing. How is life in your world? I hope you are feeling better in all matters not house related, as well as house related.
ribbonsundone:
Glad to hear it! Wishing you continued good.

Random Thoughts:

- Why do we slow down when we see somebody pulled over? It's not like the cop is going to change his mind.

"Alright sir, here's your tic - wait, that's Bill Smith's car, and he's doing 68 in a 65 mph zone! Fuck this, I've got bigger fish to fry!"

- I cannot really express how much win is contained in the...

Nothing much to say, I'm just tired of looking at the old blog.

Inception was pretty damn good. There, I've stooped to movie reviews.

Also, I suspect my cat is the incarnation of Kali. Luckily, my dogs are atheists.

Indeed. Kali may just have your tongue. smile

Perhaps I should submit a column? wink Actually, you have gotten me hooked on that strip. It is fabulous. I've actually used it as a teaching tool and shared it with others!

About Lindsay Lohan: is it not completely obvious that the only way that poor sod will get her life together is if people leave her alone? That kid is tragic. The freakshow is alive and well, although under the name of E! entertainment television. My father got out of rehab not too long ago and he said there are so many kids like her who are just lost. One was 23 and in something like his 12th rehab. My heart hurts for folks who suffer so much with that kind of addiction. Bad stuff.

Yeeeaaah, I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday...

But I was supposed to go hiking on Saturday.

Yeeeeah, that's not gonna happen. In fact, why don't you go ahead and come in on Sunday, too.

So much for my weekend.

In better news, the car looks great.

As great as it was and as much of a masterpiece it is, the best film I've seen this year was Io sono l'amore.

I've had no luck finding the som'bitch who banged into my car this past week, although the F150 that used to park next to me is nowhere to be seen. Suspicious, no? Not like I can prove anything anyway. On the plus side, the insurance company pays for my rental car - in his case, a Mercedes C300 Sport. That definitely softens the blow.

In...

My little sister is New Orleans bound, hoping to volunteer on the Gulf. Actually there are plenty of people who want to volunteer, it seems, but apparently it requires some training to work with the animals, luckily she has it. Go Katie!

In other news, there was another round of cuts - I'm sorry, restructuring - at my company. So much for my plans to...

I've always loved that song and will throw the cd in my car stereo now and then.

Shooting things would make me feel better smile

Yeah, it is completely frustrating. In some cases I realize that I want to emote and get feed back, and then I remember, yeah, there is a reason to avoid talking outside of ones head. wink

And now, Bay to Breakers.

Well I'm glad I went the extra mile for Prom; when random passers by on the street stop to say "May the Force Be With You", I must be doin' it right.

It was good to see everyone. A special thanks to Subrosa, Necia, and Timmy, for their excellent choice on dinner.

I know. I felt like someone had kicked my puppy after reading that book as a kid.

There's an I Ching app for Android. In one sense I find this really amusing, but in a way it makes sense; as a form of divination, the preferred method for casting I Ching hexagrams has changed many times over the centuries.

The ravages of illness have not dulled my appreciation for Lost. They have, however, made me realize that life is too short to...

Yeah, I haven't been too active on here in a while. I'm not sure who would hang out at prom with me, besides you. See you IRL, hopefully. smile

Thanks for the wisdom! You are right. I just need to (and am) let(ting) it all go. Whoosh.

We decided to move, so that will help alot. I am going to go out and do activities I like to do. That will result in meeting people over time. This town just IS transient scholarly folk, so time to move it along.
