I hate to get all political on a Friday night, but damnit, I just got home after working twelve hours w/o overtime, and I'm fucking grumpy, so...

Jonathan Alter has an pretty good op-ed in Newsweek about the truly ludicrous Flag Burning Ammendment. From the first time this was suggested years ago, I thought it was the grand poobah noodle of idiotic ideas, and at the time, it appeared most Americans agreed. But now, in far more troubled times, it looks like Congress is placing this phony issue ahead of the Iraq War, Health Care, Immigration, Energy Policy, Immigration, the Environment, etc. Between this and the (thankfully rejected) Gay Marriage Ammendment, Congress seems bent on enshrining the petty stupidity of our generation. (Okay, okay, I suppose our choice in leaders has already done a fine job of that.)

We only need hear about all those stupid ammendments for another couple of months. Then mid-term elections will be over and we'll not hear about them again for another two years. You'd think after dupping these people for so long. They'd get a clue, that not one politian has any intentions of getting anything done. Unless it lines their pockets.. Sort of like refusing to raise the wages.. Yet, voted themselves a pay raise.. I'd hate to rant on that.. But, shouldn't the voters be the ones to chose if they get a raise or not?
