Opening Night
Ah, Opening night.....
It's always a relief to make it to opening night without incident. The actors are burnt but we the crew are holding our own. last week I had to be the Union heavy and read the riot act to Stagemanagement and the theatre about the short staffing backstage.
I walked back in from my break to find that the TD had kept the stage crew an hour past meal penalty to massage the scene changes. This was after 50 hours of tech. So i put my foot down and said that from here on out if they wanted this show to go faster they had to add crew. Stagemanagement took management's side as is of course their regular default.
But, I can at least sleep easy that barring any accident. At least my conscience is clear. Cause I did my duty as Member at large for the local. And pointed out all the stupidity for short crewing.
God speed us all..... from here on out.
