It ain't over til the fat lady sings....
So, I've been added to the opera Show crew. Almost like clockwork. I knew i was missing out on show calls last year so i sticked it out and what do you know I'm here again in the big house. First time since 97. Back when the economy was good and we were in almost every venue.
It's odd being crew again. last time I was doing this ( Before I went out on tour again.) All the Old - old boys were at the Ford. Raking in the big bucks on the musicals and leaving the QET in the dust. The place was ours, or so it seemed. And now I'm almost the lowest of the lowest. Except for the fact that one of the old boys had to be replaced for being far too late and too many times.
The odd thing is, the Old - old boys are actually listening to me. And I'm just a grip. It's like for the first time I've walked into this place and just brought my crew chief ability with me as part of my skin. And they want a leader ( Or they want someone to do all the work so they can chill and be Old - old boys...) Too tired to care anymore while I'm still in the function.
I'm not sure but something's different....Maybe they see me finally as one of them.

i didn't start getting the nod from the old boys until i started working in the opera shop. now it's weird, they ask my advice on things (mostly carpentry stuff) witch is cool, so i take all the opera load ins now 'cause i can be acting crew chief without the nice pay but i like responsibility.
i don't know if it's so true for y'all up there in canada but here in minneapolis all the old boys are getting a little over weight so i affectionately refer to them as the big bellies.
