listening to Laura Love "Fourteen Days"
wrote a long, thoughtful email to a friend in Wisconsin concerning the past couple of days, the hit a wrong key & deleted the whole goddamned thing.
wrote terse synopsis instead.
same here:
yesterday: in path of shotgun blast in narrow hallway after inmate attacked co-worker. (the blank round, but still)
today: in tower. not much happened.
end of...

"warm/warm"??!??! Even though certain clothes call for hotter settings, I always, always use cold. I don't care what anyone says. And the dryer is always on regular!!!

hot springs didn't happen. went to SLC intsead to meet up with a little further along.
getting gas at the Chevron a few blocks from where I live,I noticed on the little "books on tape" rack Voltaire's "Candide" read by Michael York.
I had to buy it.

quick journalising, guzzle a bit more coffee, smoke another cigarette or 5, get the house whipped into shape, run a few errands copy some phone #'s & I'm gone gone gone....
called in sick at work this morning, citing "food poisoning", then realized after hanging up that I've never had food poisoning & have only a vague idea what it is. if challenged on...

"food poisoning" sounds like a dubious hobby...
anyway, held off, pending word from partner. good thing, too, as she went a different route & is several hundred miles from where I thought she'd be.
no matter. we're going to meet up at a hot springs in Southern Utah & plan from there.
(a place called "Mystic Hot Springs"--maybe a nesting ground of fat german tourists--maybe a desolate, bubbly little place where we can get to know each other all over again--we'll just have to see...surprise me, universe!)

my partner should be somewhere around Wyoming now I'd guess--
thinking about last time==
we'd wrapped a forgettable Teen Movie that shot almost entirely on location in Manhattan & the surrounding burroughs--mid-budget, with too many extras (actually, any more than one is too many, in my book--but I'm sort of prejudiced in that they bug the hell out of me.) the title of the film...

Wyoming......

This summer I was reading Barry Gifford's"Wyoming".
A great little book (or even a little big book).
When I think of it, had I the smallest budget I would attempt to make a movie out of it (indie style, of course).

No irony: your journal makes my mind wander. :-)

tired...

spent today in a C.P. (or Command Post, although what it is that I'm supposed to be commanding is beyond me) which is one of three little machine-gun nests clustered around the central building of the Institution. all three are reached by a network of catwalks & ladders & once you're in, you're locked in until a Sergeant comes to unlock you some 12...

There are so much things to discover on amazon.com.
Here's my new finding:

Christelow, Eileen: Five little monkeys jumping on the bed (New York, Clarion Books, 1989).

Abstract:
Five little monkeys experience the consequences of jumping on the bed because their mama called the doctor and the doctor said, 'No more monkeys jumping on the bed!'

I'm not sure why I'm writing this--
I don't think anybody is reading any of this--
& it's sort of a thing to help people but, deep down, I have to admit that most people annoy & bore me...
but anyway,
for my lunch I've been using those little ziploc containers. I threw away the label so I'm not sure of the exact ouncage of...

By the way, there's another regular visitor to your journal page: me...
I think you write well.
And, oh..... "making the air cleaner by redefining just what we mean by 'clean air' "...... who couldn' agree?

partner called this morning while waiting for a bus to take her from the Bronx to someplace called Kingston, where she'll pick up a car & head west. we'll meet up in SLC on Thursday.
god, I miss the little maniac.

Kingston is in upstate NY, about half way between NYC and Albany.

There's a big Trailways bus terminal up there.

just got a call from my partner in NYC. she might be coming out west in a little bit, but is working out the details. she might do a drive-away to LA, where...

listening to Richard Thompson's "Rumour & Sigh"--
smoking, drinking natural ice--
it popped into my head earlier to re-read some of the journals that I have piled up, & on the first grab I came up with a piece that I'd written during my last move from NYC that, upon reflection, wasn't half bad.
I typed it up & it came to 12 pages.
I'd...

another day at the Animal Factory.
during the twilight time between dinner & evening tier time we got word from a little bird that a fight was going to erupt so I spent my time up on gunrail actually watching the exercise yard rather than doing what I usually do, which is setting the shotgun on the windowledge & squatting on the floor with a...

i appreciate your point of view. i was on the other side of the wall for awhile.
alot of the guards were assholes ex-military or couldn't be a real cop, but many others were pretty cool. and some seemed like they could just as easily have been inmates if not for a twist of fate...
