jes' need to vent for a paragraph or 2.

in every job I've held (& there've been more than a few) one (cliched) constant has been that "the job wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for x"--with x standing for a group of people with whom one has constant contact & dealings with.

in various food service or retail jobs it was "customers". in teaching: students. when I worked in film--Extras.

having worked at a prison for almost 3 years now, you'd think that "x" would stand for "inmates", but I've been coming to the realization that it isn't so, that "x", in fact is c.o.t.'s.

at my prison--& I expect it's pretty much like this around the country, you spend yer first year on the job as a c.o.t., or correctional officer trainee--commonly reffered to as a "fish".

(inmates new to the prison system are also reffered to as fish, & are just as annoying.)

most c.o.t.s quit or are fired during the first year.

the job--like any other--is as tough as you make it, & it seems that most of them want to make it as tough as possible.

thing is: most inmates (at my prison at least) just want to do their time.

thing is: most c.o.t.'s want to prove what bad-asses they are.

I wanted to write more at length on this, but I've just had a 12-hour shift, most of it dealing with the messes created by c.o.t.s & I've got shit to do in a bit & I'm tired.

more later.

p.s.

51% is NOT a fucking "mandate". it means about half the country wishes you would just go away.

Long time no post, uh? I hope it's not weird shit that's snowing around you right now, and you'll enjoy a very white Christmas (or at least a black & white one? if not a J&B one?)
