instead of telling your mates that you are on some sort of drug and can't drive, I find it a kicker to tell them I am off my medication and can't drive, and that I may become antisocial later so they had better watch out, that seems to work a lot better haha.

I totally know how you feel... I've had my fair share of crappy friends... maybe when you get back we can go to a show together or something? I go to shows heaps... I love my music! Hope the rest of your trip turns out ok... at least when you hang out with yourself you don't have to rely or any one and you get to make all the choices about where you go and what you do by yourself... chin up sweetie.... have a safe rest of trip!!!
