From the San Francisco Chronicle:
"The Field Poll estimates that 12.2 million Californians will vote in this election.
"Such a result would be remarkable since there has been little campaigning or television advertising by the presidential candidates, who have devoted most of their campaign efforts to the so-called battleground states in the East and Midwest,'' said the Field Poll's Mark DiCamillo."
I guess the implication is that voters are primarily moved to the polls by television advertisements.
I find this ludicrous presumption to float nearly unchallenged through the nation's media in this latest campagin frenzy. It is as though the outcome of nation's election is CAUSED by campaigning. It is disturbing that so many policy 'experts' would hold such a view, that basically regards the voting public as inert and malleable.
It is exactly this kind of rhetoric that leaves me feeling disenfranchised, almost like I don't live on the same planet as most of the voting public.
