No one could ever sell the house in that condition, nobody wants to put up with the repairs and maintenance. So I fixed it up. Made it look nice. Patched the holes, new paint, upgrades, some preventative disaster reinforcement measures. It looks fine and has been a success so far. A few interested parties, but still no buyers.
I've also tried telling interested parties about the history of the house, but it seems that once they actually get to know about the house, it loses it's appeal. They don't want to live with that kind of history.
They don't like that it still bears the marks of the previous occupants. A tendency to act a little irrational at times is not welcomed. That the house gets jealous if you spend too much time away and grows resentful. So from now on I won't tell them these things. I'll cover them up. Tell the house to just suck it up and pretend it's fine.
That's the only way you'll be able to sell the house for the asking price.
