Parov Stelar Band, I am hooked on them since the Monday concert. A buddy of mine slapped me in the face and said: here, music, move skinny ass, now.
And... I have heeded his call, was grumpy at first: expensive, watered down beer, no air conditioning, hipster crowd, lousy second beer and third along. But the worst part was the support DJ, it sounded like a typical youtube-party.
I maybe heard three or four PSBs tracks but and that guy tried to rip thier style off. But instead of making it cool and using polish 30s songs for the mix (it would be a cool local-country vibe) he used American jazz and blues and it was really lousy.

After an hour of that torture the floor filled wit people (mostly wannabe MTV-hipster youth), the band came on and... WOW they got me entranced. The music was phenomenal but the real game-changer was the amount of fun the performers had on stage. They seemed to party along with the crowd, nothing would stop them, even the infernal heat: air-conditioning was either off or non-existent. After the first 30 minutes not only the whole band along with provided towels was soaking wet but moisture began to drip from the ceiling.

And it did not stop them for one minute. My personal hero is Max the Sax aka Markus Ecklmayr, that guy radiates enormous amounts of fun and can make the whole room jump without saying a single word. But Cleo Panther has also done her best both as a vocalist and front-woman of the band. Along with Max they had some real chemistry going on with crowd which always is a thumbs up.

Saying all that I got a few thoughts loosely floating around.
First of all I was shocked by the amount of people attending, I was expecting a small crowd but not a whole room packed with flesh.

Secondly the club sucked all the way: The Long Wait aka The Beer Line, watery but pricey drinks, were A-grade annoying to the attending mob but the real problem was the lack of AC. This were one of the worst conditions for any band to perform, for someone with public acclaim: it was unacceptable.

The third thing was a thought that zapped me during one of the last songs. "Heeey I didn't know that there are so many dieselpunks in Poland..." I looked around and noticed that it's true: there aren't any dieselpunks in Poland. Most of the mob was hip-based highschoolers not some alt-culture fans, beside the bands D/P imago, Cleo's dress and mannerisms, the crowd was all norms. Which saddened me greatly, cause dieselpunk is cool looking, useful and gets along well with work/school environments. I saw the music by that lense but the for the rest of the crowd it was just another cool-this-month clubing mix.

My advice? Poland, go dieselpunk, you like the music already, don't be scared, make another step.
