A long day survives the man
Beaten, still breathing,
Soft and nearly mute, But
Stale air continues to fill the lungs.
This heart beats slow and forced,
Could you find a pulse,
Or even make this bleeding
Heart beat like waves
Upon the rocks?

Time looks in upon
This menthol breath
Aging man that is me.
Eyes glassy as a still pond
Devoid of life, yet
Graceful in it's quiet
Solitude, mournful depths.

I take a moment
To gaze with graying eyes
The devastation of this
Life, waiting for a monument
To erect itself
Declaring my deeds
To blind eyes and def ears.
