I got the gig. I got the email around midnight - they like my writing style and they are offering me the EQ2guide project. I should be getting the contract in the next day or two. The deadlines are pretty quick (five days to a week for each part), but I should be fine. Honestly, based on what I've seen of the guides they sell, detailed explanations are not their focus. Their last guide for the same content was only 7 or 8 Microsoft-Word pages long. The outline I wrote them is significantly moe than that, but I think they already expect some sections to only be a paragraph or two long.
I'm excited. This is my first paying writing gig. Although the medium seems insignificant, it represents a step us for me. I feel pretty good about myself right now.
Also, I enrolled in a web development class. It starts Wednesday. The timing is crazy, and I will probably be busier than I have been in years, but I think I can do it. The course is online, with two assignments per week.
Did I mention that I'm excited?
