I helped out one of the project managers at work, he decided to get me a gift card as a thank you. He got me a gift card to a bar near the office. When he gave it to me the guy who sits next to me started laughing hysterically. The PM asked what was so funny and my cubemate said "you gave a recovering alcoholic a gift card to a bar".
The PM turned bright red then grabbed the gift card and told me that he'd get something more appropriate.
He came back with a gift card for Starbucks. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I find coffee absolutely repugnant. I gave the card to one of the ladies in marketing and asked her to bring something in for everyone.
