Simple hunting season. For me the harvest is not the be all and all of hunting, the entire experience is way more important. The community part of it is probably my favorite part. Most of my friends don't live that close anymore so this is the time when we all catch up. If we do harvest an animal we always share with people we know that aren't as fortunate as us.
I've spent a good bit of time putting in and maintaining a food plot to help this season.
I am doing this at a friend's farm and a real positive side effect has been getting him excited about something. He had a knee replacement two years ago and the recovery took longer than expected and that sent him into a bad bought of depression. With a lot of professional help he is getting better. This project has really helped him see something grow and watch nature. It's going to be great this season when he goes out and sits in a tree stand and hunts with a camera, he hasn't been out in better than ten years.
