I hope this finds you well. Sounds like you're keeping busy. Nasty things those splinters. I read a blog written by a guy who worked in a steel mill. They extract all the iron and other elements necessary to make steel, then they melt them all down, mix them in the right proportions and pour them into these huge concrete molds. They make these 5 ton blocks with them. As these things cool, they pop and metal slivers fly about the place and get swept up later. So workers must wear safety goggles when they woik in that area. Getting a sliver in your arm or hand is one thing. This guy had one bounce off of a wall, shoot into his goggles from behind, bounce off the inside and lodge into his eyeball. The story of how the doctors finally got it out made my stomach queasy.
