I went on a long hike this morning. Can you believe you can go on a long hike in the woods...in Illinois? Crazy but true. The best part is deer gather in the state parks to avoid hunters, so you can see them prancing about everywhere. Unfortunately you are never far enough away from civilization to lose the distand sound of traffic.
That makes me miss the Adirondacks. Though I'll be back there in a few days there will be no spare time for hiking. Bummer.

Be careful hiking in the woods during hunting season. My advice--don't wear antlers.
