"...points his rifle at the sky, says "God, if I have to die you will have to die."

Closing the set with an extended Cowboy Dan was definately the way to end a concert.

This was my first time seeing modest mouse live and I have to say it wasnt all good. For the first half of the set it was mostly hit or miss, especially the new material (which was mostly miss for me). I had suspected it wouldnt be my favorite part of the show, given that it wasnt my favorite album. However, as older stuff took over I was thrilled to find the band tight and improvisational without being too 'artsy'. They played some of my favorites like Cowboy Dan, Paper Thin Walls, Doin the Cockroach and Trailer Trash.

Very disapointing that the Walkmen dont have a more energetic following. They are fine musicians with a great sound and a right-on live performance. I managed to get pissed in record time, so I was a bit hopped up for their set, but thats not why it was so good. Honest.

For the most part everyone at the park was really friendly. I chatted with loads of people about everything and music and that was nice. After the show I bought a shirt from some guy supporting his commune (whose website I wont post for fear of prejudicing you against the idea of communes wink ) and chatted him up a bit on communes in general as my friends and I have been considering buying a plot of land and being self-sustaining.

Having finished a few books on dystopia (Brave New World, 1984, Amusing Ourselves to Death), I have happily switched to Sylvia Plaths Ariel, which rocks.

As does Regina Spektor, as does claremarie for turning me on to her. As do you, anyonymous reader, for that matter. Turn off your computer and go outside, even or especially if it is after midnight
